Post of Marketing/Business Development Manager
Starting Salary £20,000 p.a.
Christian Education Movement is a thriving charity, providing expertise in teaching and learning. The charity provides, consultancy, resources and support in educational and church circles. Both areas are becoming increasingly competitive so the Trustees have committed to employing a permanent full time marketing executive to develop and support marketing systems throughout the organisation. Since October 2006 a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Aston University Business School has established this position.
The brand RE Today Services supplies multi-faith educational resources to schools, groups and individuals. Two further brands International Bible Reading Association (IBRA) and Christian Education Publications provide resources for use in the Christian community. IBRA badges the two biggest titles (each selling 9,000 copies p.a.) within the charity's publishing lists Light of for our Path and Words for Today.
Working as an executive assistant to the Charity Director, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing the dedicated marketing function within the organisation and implementing an integrated marketing strategy that will enable Christian Education Movement to expand into new products and markets.
Key objectives will include;
- Identifying new marketing and communication channels to grow the subscription business of RE Today magazine.
- Meeting targets for advertising sales by developing routines to bring in new business.
- Developing and implementing fresh marketing strategies for each annual edition of our core brands - the IBRA bible reading notes.
- Further development of the customer relationship management culture.
This will require working pro-actively with the in-house Designer and external agencies on promotional materials and working with the Subscriptions administrator coordinating direct mail campaigns and monitoring responses to maximize effectiveness.
This role requires insightful business analysis, excellent communication skills, effective team working and a keen interest in developing relational marketing strategy. The candidate should have an interest in working in the not-for-profit / charitable sector, and should have at least a 2:1 honours degree in Business or a degree with substantive marketing components. He/she will be working both individually and as part of team, and should be prepared to propose, develop and defend new business propositions. It is essential that they should be able to effectively communicate the new ideas to their colleagues and be able to coach them in their implementation. The ideal candidate will be committed, enthusiastic and determined to make a difference.
