Post of Development Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

A part time Development Manager for three years to assist the CEO.

The Development Manager will:

Identify opportunities, within the needs of those working with the churches, for empowering resources sharing best practice:

  • Network with agencies and communities of those involved in delivering Christian education
  • Recognise development, training and resource needs within the networks
  • Identify appropriate material and writers best served to create new resources

Negotiate and coordinate partnerships with other organisations:

  • Source complementary strengths / expertise / products and services to enhance CE’s own capabilities and product offering.
  • Jointly develop and/or jointly market new teaching and learning resources/services aimed at specific target audiences

Contribute to learning product/service development by the charity

  • Evaluating customer feed back
  • Sourcing sponsorship/grant aid
  • Increasing the portfolio of credible, marketable resources for Christian education
  1. The worker will be accountable to the CEO and also report to the Publications Committee four times a year.
  2. The worker will need to develop good working relationships with other staff in the organisation in publishing, marketing (KTP), education, and administration.
  3. Initially CE is committed to a three year project, with a standard severance package for the worker when the development project concludes at the end of that period.
  4. This is a 0.6 fte post allowing flexibility over the year, attracting a salary of £21,000 p.a. equivalent to £35,000 f/t a year.
  5. Desk space is available in the Birmingham office, though provided the worker could readily attend meetings here on a fortnightly basis, it may be possible for the project manager to work from their home.

PERSON SPECIFICATION    

Essential

  • Experience of publishing projects as editor or writer
  • Experience of education in a church context
  • Understanding of church networks
  • Project management experience (including budgeting)
  • Theological awareness
  • Ability with standard IT packages, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express
  • Ability to work ‘remotely’ from the office.

Desirable

  • Entrepreneurial skills
  • Experience as a project leader, editor and/or writer
  • Broad experience in education
  • Literacy in ‘new media’

- for championing high quality education endeavour within the range of Christian churches and agencies around Britain today.
- for developing resources and services presenting Christian perspectives effectively and responsibly in a multi-faith, multi-cultural context.
