Serving the Church in five continents |
IBRA,
a part of Christian
Education, is
an international
organisation working
to encourage regular
Bible reading
around the world,
by publishing
Bible reading
schemes and notes
and by funding
organisations
in developing
countries through
our International
Appeal. Click

about IBRA's activities.
The
IBRA reading
scheme
Each year,
IBRA produces
a scheme
of daily
Bible readings.
This is
linked to
the readings
in the Revised
Common Lectionary,
which is
used by
most churches,
and forms
the basis
for all
IBRA's annual
publications
of Bible
reading
notes, house
group materials
and notes
for speakers.

Our
partners
overseas
The IBRA
International
Fund, available
through
the generous
donations
of many
readers
and supporters,
helps Christian
organisations
in developing
countries
to produce
their own
Bible reading
notes based
on the IBRA
reading
scheme.
Some are
reproduced
in English,
but most
are translated
and printed
locally.
In many
cases we
supply the
book covers
and the
film ready
for printing.
Sometimes
we supply
the text
on computer
disk and
a grant
towards
local production,
thus helping
to provide
local employment
as well
as encouragement
to read
the Bible
regularly.
Bible readings
cards giving
the daily
texts are
translated
into several
languages
and distributed,
usually
without
charge,
to many
parts of
the world.
It is difficult
to estimate
the exact
number of
people reading
the daily
Bible passages
throughout
the world,
but it may
be in excess
of half
a million.
In some
places the
IBRA reading
scheme is
used as
a basis
for the
whole year's
liturgy.

In Christian service
IBRA has been serving the World Church since 1882. Now at the beginning of a new millennium, we look to the future with renewed vision and enthusiasm to provide the necessary means to enable the
Church world-wide
to meet
some of
its publishing
and resource
needs.
As the Christian
world opens
up, communities
responding
to the Christian
message
need books
and resources
to learn
and understand.
These are
often too
expensive
in the developing
world, which
is why IBRA's
International
Fund needs
your help.
Help
us to increase
the number
of people
regularly
reading
the Bible
through
our Bible
reading
notes and
cards:
- Give
generously.
The only
money
we have
to use
is the
money
you give.
- Pray
for all
who are
involved
in the
work of
IBRA,
both in
the UK
and overseas.
