About Christian Education

Christian Education (CE) provides advice, resources and opportunities for teaching and learning in the school, the church and the family group, carrying forward the work of the National Christian Education Council (NCEC, formerly the National Sunday School Union) and the Christian Education Movement (CEM). The two organisations are now joining together to maximise their delivery of high quality training and resources for Christian educators and for teachers of Religious Education in schools.

Christian Education is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is independent of Government and is reliant on earned income from its services and the generosity of supporters, whether charitable foundations, churches or individuals. Christian Education is governed by a Board of Trustees elected by a membership of seventy-five representatives from church denominations, ancillary bodies, individuals and other interested organisations.
Christian Education has two main constituent organisations:

Christian Education Publications (CEP)

Christian Education Publications is wholly owned by Christian Education, and is responsible for all its publications. CEP-produced resources include:

  • Bible reading notes from the International Bible Reading Association;
  • Children's stories featuring Teddy Horsley and Betsy Bear;
  • Prayer and worship anthologies;
  • Training courses and resources for church-based professional Christian educators;
  • The REtoday mailings to schools, produced for Christian Education's other subsidiary company RE Today Services.

For more information about our publications, see our catalogue page or get in touch via our contact page.

RE Today Services

RE Today Services is wholly owned by Christian Education, and is committed to the teaching of the major world faiths in religious education, and to an accurate and fair representation of their beliefs, values and practices in all its teaching materials. See the RE Today Online website for further information.
